We'd love to see you at our Open Day on Saturday 9th November. Come along and see around the school, and find out what we have to offer.
We welcome applications from families from all around the Mourne district, and we have places available for September 2020!
Please note that all Northern Ireland paper £5 and £10 banknotes are being withdrawn from circulation, and will no longer be accepted from Monday 30th September onwards.
We can still accept paper £5 and £10 bank notes for this week’s dinner money, but any other payments for this week (and ALL payments of any kind thereafter) should not contain any paper £5 or £10 notes.
Obviously we can accept all other banknotes, as well as cheques. All cheques for dinner money should be made payable to Education Authority Southern Region. All other cheques should be made payable to Brackenagh West Primary School.
If you have any queries about this please contact Freda in the School Office.
Oscar is raising money for the Daisy Hill Hospital Fund for Diabetic Children & Teenagers! We will have two charts in school over the next week or so, and it costs £1 per square to donate and take part.
Each chart offers a different prize, as shown in the photo. The yellow chart is for the Easter Bunny, and the blue chart for the Superhero Monkey - plus an Easter Egg! These will be going around the classroom every day next week, and are also available to fill in at the General Office each morning & afternoon.
A draw will take place to determine the winner of each prize. Let's see if we can fill all of the squares to help Oscar raise money for this important work!
The latest scores in our House competition are shown below:
| BEN CROM | 109 |
| MOURNE | 104 |
| SILENT VALLEY | 142 |
| SPELGA | 128 |
We are planning to hold what should be a fantastic Christmas event on Saturday 1st December, called ‘Breakfast with Santa’ - an action-packed morning which will have something for everyone in the family, and LOTS for the children especially!
The morning will entail breakfast for everyone attending, and a wide range of activities for the children. Children’s tickets include ALL of the following: breakfast; face painting; a visit with Santa; a gift & photo; craft activities; letter writing to Santa; story-telling with Mrs Claus and a yummy sweet treat. ALL of this for just £8.50 per child!
Adult tickets cost £5 each and include a great breakfast of bacon baps, sausage baps, pancakes, fruit, tea/coffee and fruit juices. To help lower the cost for families attending together, we have family tickets on offer which offer savings over buying all of the individual tickets, especially for those with larger families.
What a great way to start December - fill your tum with delicious food and enjoy sharing the children’s excitement as they meet Santa, unwrap a gift and enjoy all of the other things on offer!
Plans are already afoot to transform the Library into a magical Santa’s Grotto, and staff are pulling out all the stops to make this an unforgettable experience for the children! Tickets are available from the General Office, and this special event is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
Well done to Callum (P7), who competed recently in the Ulster Schools Cup Swimming competition. Callum was 8th overall in the 50m butterfly, with a fastest time of 44.39 seconds, which means that he has qualified for the Swim Ireland Schools Cup in Dublin on 10th February.
He also did really well in his 100m Individual Medley, in which he just missing out on qualifying by 0.95 seconds. A great achievement! We wish him well for the Swim Ireland event in February.
Our annual Harvest Service will be held in the Assembly Hall on Wednesday 24th October at 10:00am.
This will include short performances from the Playgroup children, as well as the P3 & P5 classes. Everyone is very welcome to attend.
