Girls’ Uniform
Due to the fact that we now have playground equipment which may involve the children climbing, we have decided to make a slight amendment to the uniform policy. Girls will now be permitted to wear plain black or navy cycling shorts under their skirts, if they wish to do so. However, these must not be so long as to be visible when in class.

Thank you to everyone who supported and donated to our Fun Fundraising Friday event! We were blessed with fantastic weather and the children had a brilliant day. 

 

A special ‘thank you’ to Mrs Haugh-Graham and the Enterprise Club for all of their hard work in organising the event. They did an absolutely brilliant job! We raised a total of £1600 for school funds, which was a great effort. Thank you for your support.

There was great excitement on Wednesday as our football team took part in the primary schools' 7-a-side football tournament in Newcastle. The boys did extremely well, making it all the way to the Final, where they eventually lost out to St Mary's PS, Banbridge. 

 

However, finishing as runners-up was a great achievement, and the highlight was undoubtedly a tense and hard-fought victory over Kilkeel PS in the semi-final. Well done boys!

Today we said an emotional ‘farewell’ to Mrs Lorna Henderson, who has served faithfully in BWPS since 1996. Lorna will be greatly missed by everyone - staff, pupils and parents - but we’re thankful for the tremendous service she has given, and very blessed to have worked with her. A special lady!

Congratulations and a big 'Well done' to the prize-winners in our competition for World Book Day! The children had to design an original book cover, and the winners from each class were able to select a book of their choice from the Book Fair. 

 

The winning entries were designed by Jessica (P1), Dylan (P2), Daniel (P3), Adam (P4), Grace (P5), Olivia (P6) and Emma-Jane (P7). We had a lot of great entries and choosing the winners was a difficult task!

We have a couple of prizes up for grabs! The children are currently competing to win our fluffy bunny (with 3 Easter Eggs) and our lovely cuddly chick (along with a jar of Mini Eggs) - and we wanted you to see what they're all so keen to win.

 

They have to guess the name of the Bunny to win it, and for the Chick, the challenge is to guess how many Mini Eggs are in the jar! It's £1 for 3 guesses and entry forms are available in school from your child's class teacher.

Congratulations to Aimee (P6) who has won a prize in a writing competition run by Annalong WI. She was able to read her short story to us in Assembly yesterday, and we all enjoyed hearing it. Very well done!

Our football team performed very well at the recent indoor 5-a-side tournament, held at Kilkeel Leisure Centre, finishing in third place. The boys played a total of 5 games, and were only beaten by the eventual winners, Kilbroney PS, in the semi-finals. Well done boys! 

Our 'Busy Bees Playgroup' is now taking applications for children born between 2nd July 2015 and 1st July 2016, as well as those born between 2nd July 2014 and 1st July 2015. A range of options are available - 2, 3, 4 or 5 days per week - to best suit the needs of both parents and children. Daily sessions run from 9:00am - 12:15pm.

 

We still have part-time and full-time places available for anyone who wishes to apply for a place for their child, whether in their immediate pre-school year, or those children in the year before that.
