The P6 and P7 classes had a great morning learning about the Bible through the 'Journey 2 Where' Bible Exhibition. There was so much to learn and so much to see! The children were able to a taste of the Historical record the Bible gives us, both before and after the death of Jesus Christ. Find out more at www.journey2where.co.uk
Thank you to everyone who came and supported our Family Fun Night! We were blessed with fantastic weather and a great turn out. It was great to see so many families come along and spend the evening with us.
A special thank you to Mrs Haugh-Graham and the Enterprise Club for all of their hard work in organising the night. They did an absolutely brilliant job! We raised a total of £1150.75 for school funds, which was a great effort. Thank you for your support!
Cancer Focus NI recently held a competition for schools, where the P6 and P7 pupils were asked to take an imaginative photo of the 'Big Cig' prop to highlight the ‘Don’t Smoke’ message.
There were prizes on offer for the best four photos, and our P7s have won one of them! The prize is a new iPad for the school, and the P7s will be going to Belfast on Tuesday 13th June to attend the prize-giving ceremony.
The winning photo is shown here. I'm sure you'll agree that Harvey, Ethan, Gareth and Eric came up with an excellent and very original idea for their photo. Well done boys - may the force be with you!
Remember our Fun Night at the school on Thursday 25th May! We'll have a chip van on-site, as well as Graham's ice-cream, along with all sorts of fun activities.
There'll be archery, face painting, pitch and putt, a bouncy castle, hair styling, nail painting, football, games and much more!
Please plan to come along and join us, at whatever time suits you between 6:30pm - 8:30pm.
Important event! Our kids are exposed to so much online - a lot of which we don't know about. Come to our Internet Safety Workshop on Tuesday 3rd May, from 7:00 - 9:00pm in the Assembly Hall.
This is a free event, and EVERYONE is welcome (it is not limited to BWPS parents)
Congratulations to the football team who finished as runners-up in the South Down 7-a-side football tournament in Newcastle yesterday. The boys played tremendously well, and didn't concede a goal throughout the whole tournament - only losing on penalties in the final, to St Mary's (Banbridge).
The highlight for the boys was a hard fought local derby win over Kilkeel Primary School in the semi-finals, which in itself was a great achievement. Well done to David, Charlie, Matthew, Luke, Rhys, Aaron, Callum and Jackson.
We have an important date for your diary! Please keep the evening of Tuesday 2nd May free, as we will be holding an important session for parents on internet safety, filtering, apps and children's use of smartphones/tablets.
The workshop, delivered by REIM Training Solutions, is designed to educate parents in the practical skills needed to set up parental controls and protect their children online while using their devices.
We also aim to provide knowledge on how to keep your children safe while using some of the frequently used social media sites, Apps (such as Snapchat), chatrooms, online gaming and tips on dealing with cyberbullying.
This is a very practical workshop that aims to:
This is a FREE event and one that will be specifically aimed at parents of primary school age. We hope you’ll be able to attend.
A letter has been sent home about our new Parent Mail App, which can be downloaded to your smartphone/tablet.
This can also be read through your email inbox or via the App itself - on your phone or your iPad/Tablet. The letter is also available to view on the website, in the 'Letters/Forms' section.
Although a hard copy of the letter has been sent out on this occasion, we hope to phase out most of the hard copies that go home, over the next few weeks.
Heidi Graham, one of our P6 pupils, has been raising money for the Little Princess Trust, which is a charity that provides real hair wigs to children that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
Heidi had her hair cut in school yesterday, so that she could donate this to the Princess Trust, who can use it in a suitable wig. As well as donating her hair, this effort also involves Heidi raising funds for the charity, as a single wig can cost between £350 - £500.
If you’d like to support Heidi in her effort please speak to her Mum, Tracey Graham, or to Heidi, about making a donation. We commend her for making this sacrifice for the Princess Trust to help children who have been affected by cancer in this way.
We've had a fantastic range of entries for our photograph competition for World Book Day, and it has been very difficult choosing the winners! The children had to send in a photo of themselves reading a book, and we judged them in three categories: most original photo, most unusual place, and funniest photo.
The winning photos can be seen in the 'Gallery' section of the website, and all of the entries are on display in school. Thank you to everyone for taking part and for putting so much thought into staging the photographs. We've had great fun looking at them all!
