We have revised and updated our School Prospectus, and it is now available to view in the 'Key Information' area of the website. A print version is also available from the school on request.
The Prospectus is a booklet that contains a wide range of information on the school, and is very helpful for parents who may be considering sending their children to Brackenagh West PS.
The Enterprise Club are organising an evening of fun and dancing which will take the form of a ‘Social’ or Hoedown. It will be held on Friday 11th March in the Bracken Centre, from 7:15pm - 9:15pm. Admission is by ticket only and tickets are available from the School Office or from any member of the Enterprise Club.
This is open to all past and present pupils, as well as all parents and friends of the school. Please see below for further information on ticket prices etc. We hope you will be able to come along and join us
Many congratulations to our football team, who have won the Mourne 5-a-side Football Tournament for a second year running. It was a rather unique achievement this year, since both of our teams made it through to the final! BWPS A finished as runners up in their group and then defeated Killowen PS in the semi final, whilst BWPS B qualified from their group before beating Annalong PS in the other semi-final.
We then had the unusual situation of both Brackenagh West teams having to play each other in the Final. It was a very close affair, and BWPS A eventually came out on top after a hard fought 1-0 win. Well done to the boys (and girl) on both teams on this great achievement. The winners and runners up are pictured below.
School will close at 12noon on Friday 18th December for the Christmas holidays. On behalf of the whole school community I would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and every blessing for 2016.
School will re-open to pupils on Thursday 7th January 2016.
The application forms for admission to P1 in September 2016 are now available in school and on the school website. Anyone who has previously contacted the school and put their child's name down will be sent a form in the post this week.
If anyone else would like an application form they can either contact the school directly (Tel 417 65055) or download one from the school website. This can be found in the 'Key Information' section of the website, under Admissions.
The deadline for receipt of application forms is Wednesday 13th January at 12 noon.
We haven't organised an Open Day this year, but if anyone would like to visit the school we are more than happy to accommodate them in that. Please feel free to make an appointment and Mr Peacock will show you around and answer any questions you may have about the school.
A big thank you to everyone who supported the Book Fair over the past week.
The kids really enjoyed it and many of them were able to get some exciting, new books for themselves!
Our annual parent/teacher interviews are being held the week beginning 23rd November, for P2 – P7 pupils only. We’ve already had one set of P1 interviews, and their next ones will be held in February, along with the P7 transfer interviews.
You can reserve an interview time by signing the interview time sheet which will be outside your child’s classroom from Monday 9th November. Also, please note that each interview is limited to 10 minutes.
We kindly request that you don’t bring children with you to the parent interviews.
The Book Fair will be arriving on Thursday 12th November, and the books will be on display in the Hall until Wednesday 18th November.
If any of the books advertised have been sold out then we can easily place an order for you, and the books should be with us by Thursday 19th November.
Please note that we will be closing the Book Fair at 2:30pm sharp on 18th November, and will be unable to sell any more books after this time.
Within the next 2-3 months the application forms for P1s for next September will have to be filled in and submitted. If anyone is interested in sending their child to Brackenagh West PS for the first time they can contact the school office (Tel: 417 65055). We can then send out the application forms when the time comes.
At moment we still have spaces for P1 for next September. We are also happy to accommodate anyone who would like to come and visit the school and/or speak with Mr Peacock.
